Thermal energy is the energy that comes from heat and is related to the temperature of an object. This heat is generated by the movement of tiny particles within an object. The faster these particles move, the more heat is generated.

Insulators, such as plastic, are objects that do not allow thermal energy to easily move through them. So concerning your house, if you don’t have the proper insulation, the thermal energy/heat will escape through the attic, walls, etc., causing you to overspend on your heating bills and not feel as comfortable as you should in your home.
